From 1992 to 2014 the Wrangell-St. Elias News was published six times a year from the historic mining community of McCarthy, Alaska. McCarthy is situated 4 miles south of Kennecott, where the Kennecott Copper Corporation got its start.

The Wrangell-St. Elias News (WSEN) was a labor of love for the community by Rick and Bonnie Kenyon. The 2 feet its 24 volumes occupy on a bookshelf are the primary record of the history of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve and its residents for 1991 to 2014. WSEN’s reporting on property rights, access and the promises of the Alaska Lands Act (ANILCA) was thorough and professional. Rick and Bonnie changed history for the better through their efforts.
